The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) is a founding member of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance for Addressing Global Challenges that will promote the integration of scientific diplomacy and its practices in the EU, provide training and institutional capacity development.
This initiative is part of the H2020-funded project “Using Science For/In Diplomacy for Addressing Global Challenges (S4D4C)”, which The Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) is a partner of.
The policy report has three main sections. First, it sets a proposal of a vision, mission, and principles for EU science diplomacy for addressing global challenges. Next, it identifies the main stoppers, warnings, and drivers for global collaboration in science, diplomacy, and science diplomacy.
FECYT presented to the diplomats the project “Using science for / in diplomacy for addressing global challenges-S4D4C” on European science diplomacy, in which FECYT participates as a partner to connect the different agents involved in science, and diplomacy and creating training material.
These European science diplomacy workshop aim to train and build capacities in scientists, researchers, policy-makers, and diplomat in transferable skills and specific knowledges for the field.

The 2nd edition of Ambassadors for Science was launched in November 2017 with ten couples of scientists, diplomats and counsellors, who all shared a few days to learn first-hand about their respective professional worlds.
